A profile of the Executive Director of PSUS

Md. Bellal Hossain
Executive Director
Md. Bellal Hossain has been making a significant contribution to improving the lives of marginalized communities in Bangladesh with his extensive experience in social service and leadership skills. Since his student life, he has worked for the rights and equality of the poor, persons with disabilities, women, and children, dedicating himself to establishing sustainable development and social justice.
He realized the importance of contributing to Bangladesh’s development by ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, improving health and education, uplifting socio-economic conditions for underprivileged women and children, addressing malnutrition, promoting agriculture, ensuring food security, and tackling climate change. With this realization, in 1995, he founded Prattasha Samazik Unnayan Sangstha (PSUS) along with a group of enthusiastic young individuals. The organization has since been working for the rights of persons with disabilities, the welfare of disadvantaged women and children, sustainable agriculture, healthcare, education, food security, climate change adaptation, sanitation, and gender equality.
Under his leadership, PSUS has established effective partnerships with various governmental and non-governmental development organizations and successfully attracted support from national and international agencies. For over three decades, he has been leading the organization with the same dedication and commitment.
In recognition of his work, on December 3, 2016, he received the Best Organization Award from the Department of Social Services and the Ministry of Social Welfare for outstanding contributions to disability development.
