Distribution of Assistive Devices and Medicine Support to Children and Youth with Disabilities.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM, a winter clothing distribution event was held at the premises of Dr. Afsar Uddin College in Gokulkhali Bazar, Chitla Union, Alamdanga Upazila. The event was organized by Prattasha Samajik Unnayan Sangstha with the support of Global One Bangladesh, aimed at distributing winter clothing packages to underprivileged groups in society, particularly women, children, orphans, the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, and pregnant women.

The event was presided over by Md. Billal Hossain, Executive Director of Prattasha Samajik Unnayan Sangstha. The Chief Guest, Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga, stated,
“In recent days, Chuadanga has experienced extreme cold. The poor and underprivileged groups, especially women, children, orphans, the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, and pregnant women, are suffering greatly. This winter clothing package will help alleviate their distress. Harsh cold, dense fog, and chilly winds have made life unbearable for the impoverished, and those with the means should stand by them. I appreciate the efforts of Global One Bangladesh and Prattasha Samajik Unnayan Sangstha for organizing this initiative and ensuring that the truly needy individuals receive these winter clothes.”

The Special Guest, Superintendent of Police (BPM-Service) Khandaker Golam Mawla, remarked,
“All our actions should be guided by humanity. When you help people, the Almighty surely helps you in return. Our greatest test is the test of humanity. I have come here not just to distribute winter clothes but also to connect with you. This is not charity but a gift for those in need.”

Another Special Guest, Alamdanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Mehedi Islam, shared his admiration for the initiative, stating,
“I have followed their activities through various media, and their innovative approach impressed me. A working individual may find comfort in a blanket while sleeping, but during work hours, from evening to late night, they need a jacket to keep warm. To ensure that people do not suffer in the cold while working, this organization has taken such a thoughtful initiative. I am delighted and honored to be part of this effort.”

The Deputy Country Director and Head of Programs of Global One Bangladesh, Md. Ramzan Ali, announced that 200 families received winter clothing packages through this initiative. He added,
“Winter is a time of hardship for the poor and helpless. It is the moral duty of every compassionate person to support those in need. Since its inception, Global One Bangladesh has strived to stand beside the underprivileged. Like other districts, we have implemented this winter clothing distribution program for 200 families in Chuadanga, and we will continue such efforts in the future.”

Other distinguished guests at the event included Dr. Afsar Uddin College Principal Mahabubul Islam Selim, Helal Uddin, Shafiqul Islam Sad, and others.

The overall coordination was managed by Saidur Rahman, Coordinator of Prattasha Samajik Unnayan Sangstha, along with CBR workers Asaduzzaman, Mohibul Habib, Arifur Rahman, and field volunteers Hamidul Islam and Abdur Rahman. The event was conducted by Yunus Ali, Program Manager of Prattasha Samajik Unnayan Sangstha.

Following the discussion, 200 disadvantaged families in Alamdanga Chitla Union received winter clothing packages, which included:

  • 1 blanket
  • 1 adult sweater
  • 2 children’s hoodie sweaters
  • 1 women’s shawl
  • 1 hot water bag
  • 2 bottles of petroleum jelly
  • 1 bottle of glycerin
  • 1 portable stove

This initiative brought warmth and comfort to those most affected by the severe winter, reinforcing the commitment to humanitarian service.
